University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien

With almost 6,000 alumni and more than 2,700 students currently taking its eleven Bachelor’s and seventeen Master’s degree programmes, UAS Technikum Wien is the largest, purely technical university of applied sciences in Austria.

All of the diverse bachelor’s and master’s programmes are based on a solid theoretical foundations, while also being practice-oriented. They are offered as full-time and/or part-time degree programmes.

At UAS Technikum Wien, emphasis is not only placed on providing a high-quality technical education, but also on language training, business subjects and personal development. Close ties with business and industry provide students with the possibility of internships and offer graduates excellent career opportunities. UAS Technikum Wien was founded in 1994 and became Vienna’s first university of applied sciences in 2000. It is a network partner of the FEEI – Association of the Austrian Electrical and Electronics Industries.

BUT

Brno University of Technology - A university with a proud tradition

On 19 September 1899 the Austrian Emperor and Hungarian King Franz Joseph 1 signed a decree bringing into existence a Czech technical university in Brno. This wasthe first Czech higher education institution in Moravia.

It became an important centre of teaching and research, greatly enriching the life of Czech society, a role that it has continued to play down to the present. When it opened, the university had with four professors and forty-seven students.

In the course of more than 110 years is has matured into an internationally recognized institution offering a cutting-edge education based on the latest scientific and professional knowledge delivered at eight faculties and Institute of Forensic Engineering covering a broad spectrum of fields ranging from technical and scientific disciplines through economics to the arts.

BUT was one of only two Czech universities to be granted the ECTS Label. This label recognizes the proper introduction of the European credit system in all Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes in line with the implementation of the aims of the Bologna Process. BUT was awarded the DS Label in recognition of the proper provision of the Diploma Supplement to all its graduates free of charge. Both certificates are proof that BUT meets the demanding criteria of the European Union in the area of higher education; in addition, they make a major contribution towards broadening mobility and increasing the internationalisation of the university.

At the present time more than 24,000 students are enrolled at BUT at 8 faculties and 2 university institutes.

VSPJ

College of Polytechnics Jihlava

The College of Polytechnics Jihlava (VSPJ) was established in 2004 as the first public college of a non-university type in the Czech Republic and is the only public college in the Vysočina region. 

The College of Polytechnics Jihlava is a public institution for higher education providing accredited bachelor study programmes with the duration of six semesters. The study programmes taught at the college offer a well-balanced combination of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in accordance with the needs of regional labour market. One semester-long placement is a significant part of the programmes. Although the language of instruction is Czech, some courses are offered in foreign languages.

One of the main objectives of applied research is to address specific needs in the region. VSPJ is the only college in the Czech Republic that runs its own travel agency.

VŠPJ also offers programmes of life-long learning, including the Third Age University providing learning opportunities in a range of courses. VŠPJ cooperates with  higher education institutions in EU countries through international projects and Erasmus programme.
